“The business allows me to be able to support my family.”

Tenisha Rasul, Pak Fair Lsogistics

Tenisha Rasul

Pak Fair Logistics

Tenisha enjoyed a career in finance while helping her husband, a driver operator, with his business. Inspired by providing more for her family and hoping to ease her husband’s time on the road, she decided to open Pak Fair Logistics in 2013, a transportation and logistics services company in Houston, Texas.

Tenisha is proud to be a female entrepreneur in a male dominated industry, especially because she knows the trucking industry is critical to the country’s economy and understands that a successful logistics business requires strong back end management, compliance and driver safety, all of which comes easy to her.

After Hurricane Harvey’s devastating impact, Pak Fair Logistics was in need of a new flatbed trailer. However, the hurricane caused routes to slow to nearly a complete halt for few months affecting her income and taking a toll on the business; that’s when Tenisha’s CPA referred her to LiftFund.

LiftFund worked with Tenisha to get her business back on its feet and add a new flatbed through a disaster relief loan. Today, Pak Fair Logistics employs ten full time employees, including Tenisha’s husband who no longer drives and now supports her with the business’ operations. Tenisha is proud of her business, which allows her to provide for her family and spend more time together.

Game oN

Charles Story always dreamed of becoming an entrepreneur. Inspired by the opportunity to merge his passion for mentoring and gaming, he launched Game oN, a space where kids and young adults can drop in and play games on various systems like PlayStation, Xbox, virtual reality, and more. Charles came up with the business idea while he and his son were playing a video game at home. He saw the potential, but traditional banks were not willing to lend him enough funds to make his vision a reality.

Charles tapped into his savings and pitched his idea to investors who were skeptical that gaming would be a long lasting venture. A friend and business owner referred him to LiftFund. With support from LiftFund, Charles was able to create the perfect business model for Game oN and open a second store in his community, Memphis, Tennessee.

After four years in business, Charles is proud to be able to pay himself and hire employees. Now, with his vision a reality, other cities are interested in helping Charles replicate his concept. However, as an entrepreneur and father, Charles is most proud that his business is a safe space for kids and young adults, where he can “educate through gaming.”

“I can deliver something more. I can work harder than anyone else and guide the business in growing it to be what I want.”

Joe Petty, Coffee Break

Joe Petty

Coffee Break

Joe Petty and his wife Deborah moved their family of four from New Jersey to El Paso to be closer to family. As Joe began looking to expand his already successful medical device sales career, he couldn’t find suitable opportunities and started looking at other options instead, including entrepreneurship.

Through an online search, Joe found Coffee Break, a forty-year-old business that caters to local businesses. As Joe explored owning his own business, he asked his father Alfred, a serial entrepreneur, for guidance. Joe was confident that with a good sales price, determination, and commitment to value, he could create a pathway to strengthen the business.

Joe learned about LiftFund during a business certification course. He realized that as a startup he potentially would need capital for Coffee Break, so he secured a veteran small business loan that serves as a peace of mind. Now with nearly a year under his belt as a business owner, Joe has implemented a strong sales strategy that has resulted in reduced overhead and increased sales. His vision for Coffee Break is to provide more options to meet his customers’ needs.

CrossFit Stamina

Jacob didn’t imagine that the first CrossFit gym he would train from would be his own, CrossFit Stamina. His fitness inclination led him to CrossFit, and he immediately fell in love with it. His plan was to become a certified trainer and teach at a nearby gym. Instead, his wife Jennifer encouraged him to open their own gym in their community, Harlingen, Texas.

The couple started training from their garage until they saved some money to move to a small location. They quickly outgrew that space as well, and reached out to LiftFund for support. At LiftFund, they received a microloan to move to a larger space and purchase equipment to be able to serve more members.

For Jacob and Jennifer, 3Cs guide the foundation of CrossFit Stamina: Culture, Community and Commodity. At 120+ active members, they are proud of the family oriented community they have built, especially the positive impact the gym has had on people’s lives.

“The support that LiftFund offers is fantastic. With the funds it was easy for me to hire the right people with the right knowledge and be able to pay them the right amount.”

Emilio Salazar, Colinas Foods

Emilio Salazar

Colinas Foods

Emilio founded his first business in 1998 in Mexico, and it was a business opportunity that led him and his family to Texas. Once in Austin, he realized there was not a meat processing company targeting Hispanic-owned restaurants, so he decided to open Colinas Foods in 2015.

His understanding of the Hispanic market helped him develop a business model that included the right product and price. Colinas headed to a great start, but limited storage space forced Emilio to buy smaller quantities at a higher price. Traditional funding options were hard to secure since, as a startup, Colinas Foods had little to no established credit. Then, a friend referred Emilio to LiftFund.

Through LiftFund, Emilio received funding to expand his business. He built a larger cooler and freezer, which allowed him to buy larger quantities at better price, increase his capacity, and create jobs in his community. Today, Colinas Foods is a provider to more than sixty restaurants in the greater Austin area. As a business owner, Emilio believes creating jobs is rewarding and important; he is inspired by building scalable businesses that make an impact in the community and provide living wages for families in the area.

BTX

Davide Pesca was born and raised in Italy. After moving to Dallas, Texas, he ran a company for an Italian group until he decided to buy a business that he could scale. He and his wife Evangeline saw potential in BTX, an industry leader in window and shade automation manufacturing.

As BTX grew, Davide and Evangeline wanted to purchase their own building to avoid leasing another term. However, after just having purchased the business, Davide knew they would not qualify for a conventional loan. Their banker from SNB, now Simmons Bank, introduced them to LiftFund. Through a partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration and LiftFund, the couple secured an SBA 504 loan for their 36,000 square foot building.

Today, BTX products can be found in hotels and resorts around the world. Since purchasing the building, BTX's revenue increased four times and they grew from nineteen to sixty employees.

For Davide, performance is the key to success. He is proud of transforming BTX from a good company to a group of thriving companies, and being able to provide jobs and welfare for his community as a result of it.
